ABOUT US
Welcome to Elite English
Elite English provides high-quality Legal English courses designed to meet the needs of international law students, lawyers, and legal professionals aiming to succeed in global legal environments.
English is the lingua franca of the law and indeed English law is the dominant choice for parties entering into international commercial contracts. A high level of English is essential for every lawyer working internationally.
Our programs help you gain the legal language skills, terminology, and confidence needed to communicate effectively in English-speaking legal systems. Legal English employs a precise, technical vocabulary where common words can have different legal meanings. Many terms are borrowed from Latin and Old French, reflecting England's legal history after the Norman conquest. You will be given tips to hone down legalese and focus on modern ‘plain’ English writing. The term "legalese" is often used to criticize the more abstruse or unnecessarily complex aspects of this language.
